I never wanted it to be a 100% resemblance of Kehlani, but I also didn’t want to stray too far away from her. Instead, I wanted to capture something beyond a portrait—her aesthetic, her music, her sound, and the energy she carries.
Through vibrant color and the collaboration of loud and soft tones, I tried to translate what her music feels like to me into something visual.
Kehlani has been one of my favorite artists for years. Her music has guided me through different parts of my adult life and, in many ways, helped remind me what it means to be unapologetic, vulnerable, and a badass at the same time.
